Two evenings St. Petersburg applauded to the young lovers
Romeo and Juliet, the most famous lovers on the planet, live and die on stage, in music, in cinema for more than 400 years. They are immortal, just like love and like hatred that lied between their families are. Bravo to the Principals The Royal Ballet Matthiew Golding, Sarah Lamb and Gary Avis and Perm Ballet!
Prokofiev’s music creates the atmosphere of anger, revenge, love, hatred and tenderness, and the MacMillan’s choreography completes it entirely. Aside from gorgeous choreography excellently performed by Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre, this performance needs to be noticed by its costumes. They were made by Italian masters specially for Alexey Miroshnitchenko’s artists. This man is mostly the reason why “Romeo and Juliet” in choreography of Kenneth MacMillan – the legend of The Royal Ballet Covent Garden – was put on the Perm Opera and Ballet stage. By the way, those costumes you can see 15-26 of April at the exposition “Sergei Prokofiev. Hymn of Love”. Alexandrinsky Theatre, 11.00-20.00 every day.
